I’ve been meaning to post this for a bit, but have been rather too busy with the whole enjoying life thing.

Rio and I were driving in the car the other day when a song she doesn’t like came on the radio. Normally when that happens she bursts into a howling tantrum to let me know, and I always say, “Can you use your words?”

This time, she said in a normal conversational tone, “Scream.”

“What?” I said.

“I said ‘Scream,’ Mama,” she explained. “I scream this song. You change the music.”

“You’re saying the word ‘scream’ instead of screaming?” I asked.

“Yes.”

“Just making sure.”

Needless to say, I changed the music. She’s done it a couple of times since, and I am awestruck each time. Oh, if Saussure could see my baby!
